Build Night June 14-Fireworks

June is our annual build fireworks.  John has put together a kit to make 'The Flying Fish Mine'. The kit is $5.00 for everything you need except the black powder.  He has 50 kits so get more than one if you want to have them for the Forth-of-July.

Now the question is where to get black powder.  You only need 2 grams for each kit.  If anyone has any extra from their anvil launch, flintlock rifle, or ammo reloading let us know.  Also if you make your own at home that will work too.  Below is a thumbnail of several going off at www.skylighter.com.

Volunteer check point

When you go down to Parkville check in at the American Legion for a volunteer tag.  The AL is next to Stone Canyon as you turn toward the tracks.  The tag lets you into the sandbag areas.

We need to pick up several of the power wheel cars and help move chemicals and product upstairs.

If anyone knows how to reach Nic and Gustave we would like for them to get the lumber out.

No tools are needed but it is hot work.  Dress accordingly and bring an ice chest with cool liquids to drink.

Show & Tell - June 7, C A N C E L L E D

Updated information over the last 24 hours has caused us to cancel our Show & Tell session as a precaution to prepare for flooding in the low lying areas of Parkville. John Kuhns was scheduled for a major portion of our presentations but his time will be better spent moving items out of the HMS Beagle store's basement.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

The business meeting should not take long and we can jump back on to the Power Wheels.

We are continuing the Power Wheel builds until we get some entries done.

Bring your Power Wheel, framing materials, wheels, tools, motors.   We will be building the power controllers.  We need two for each car.  Even if you do not have a car you can help with the Make:KC car.

May 2011 - Show & Tell

Kansas City's Maker community is gearing up for a busy summer. This month's Show & Tell provides a look at some of the activities that include programming for kids, competitive robotics teams, and Power Wheels racing events. We even hope to get a brief introduction to welding for Makers and hobbyists.

Also, please note we're making a time change this month from 7:00 to 9:00 pm to give everyone a little more time to get here.

Build Night April 19--Mini Fume Extractor

I will not make it to this build night but I am leaving the things you will need for your project:  mesh, hot glue gun, bolts, instructions.  Also I am leaving the switches, regulators, instructions.  If you want to build one from the beginning read on for to bring.
