Meeting Dale and watching as he builds communities around the world, you get a sense of great accomplishments that touch us all.
In his Eulogy for My Father Dale shares a glimpse into the importance family plays in his life. How Mom and Dad did their special magic together for the benefit of others their whole life.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Dale and his family after the recent passing of his father.
The HMS Beagle Science Store and Make:KC, as part of our Maker Summer, have assisted high school students from Blue Valley CAPS and Lees Summit with the Dark Matter Assent balloon launch into near-space. The balloon will lift a high definition DSLR camera and GoPro video camera along with other sensors.
Fab Lab Orientation & Safety Class
Make:KC's October Show & Tell will differ from previous events by offering the Fab Lab Orientation and Safety Class. This is a prerequisite to becoming a member of the BTC Fab Lab and access to their selection of great machines.
Make:KC is a partner in the Dark Matter "Ascent" project. This is part of our Maker Summer activities. Volunteers are needed to help with this build and launch of a community built balloon traveling to the edge of Earth's atmosphere above Kansas City. The launch date is planned for sometime this fall.

I did post a few fotos from the MakerFaire at Union Station. We had a great time and look forward to Parkville's Riverfest with it's Mini-Maker-Faire. I understand the crowd the crew the producers the sponsers and the MAKERs will "Do IT Again" next year. I loaded about 6 or 7 pictures into the IMAGE GALLERY under Maker Faire.
Kansas City's original grass-roots mini Maker Faire is returning again this year as part of Parkville Day's Riverfest, August 19 - 21.
We have our work ahead of us as flooding along the Missouri River is expected to continue into August. Plans are being made in the event we need to move to higher ground.
When you go down to Parkville check in at the American Legion for a volunteer tag. The AL is next to Stone Canyon as you turn toward the tracks. The tag lets you into the sandbag areas.
We need to pick up several of the power wheel cars and help move chemicals and product upstairs.
If anyone knows how to reach Nic and Gustave we would like for them to get the lumber out.
No tools are needed but it is hot work. Dress accordingly and bring an ice chest with cool liquids to drink.
