Show & Tell - Nov. 1, 2011 - 7 to 9 p.m.Making: The Art of STEMSTEM, a buzzword used to rally support calling for more Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math in schools. At the core of this movement is the belief our kindergarten through high school students are not being prepared for their future, where the jobs these kids will face haven't been invented yet. Creativity, problem solving, and inventiveness are among the essential skills they'll need. Some criticize STEM for leaving Art out of this mix. Making and the Maker Movement embodies the Art of STEM.

Show & Tell - July 5, 7:00 to 9:00 pmJuly is heating up and the river will be leveling off soon so its time to turn our attention to summer activities. This month we're continuing our Maker Summer, learning about the art and culture of "America: Now and Then", checking out the "Ascent" project from Dark Matter, playing with the KC Space Pirate's Archimedes Death Ray, and learning about chemistry of Dyes, Mordants, Pigments, and Oils for the DIY enthusiast.
Show & Tell - June 7, C A N C E L L E DUpdated information over the last 24 hours has caused us to cancel our Show & Tell session as a precaution to prepare for flooding in the low lying areas of Parkville. John Kuhns was scheduled for a major portion of our presentations but his time will be better spent moving items out of the HMS Beagle store's basement. We apologize for any inconvenience. Vince
May 2011 - Show & TellKansas City's Maker community is gearing up for a busy summer. This month's Show & Tell provides a look at some of the activities that include programming for kids, competitive robotics teams, and Power Wheels racing events. We even hope to get a brief introduction to welding for Makers and hobbyists. Also, please note we're making a time change this month from 7:00 to 9:00 pm to give everyone a little more time to get here.
