August 2012 - Planning & Business

We voted on Michael Grundvig as a Make:KC board member with all attending in favor. Board members present at the time include Rich Brull, John Kuhns, Bob Spangler, Randy Jessee, Steve Siegel, and Vince Thompson. Tom Collins was not present but arrived later.

Wrap-up on the Parkville Days event - the Main Street Parkville Association has been a great supporter of our Make:KC efforts by including us in this festival and we have been asked back again next year. We threw together this year's Maker Expo together over a few weeks and they deserve a better showing if we're going to come back again. We discussed how we intend to plan for next year's event.

We are working toward some major build activities over the next year. We're making plans to start with a 3D printer build. I would like to see us continue with a CNC Router project and CNC Laser Cutter builds. These activities could really help grow our membership. We also need to consider how we can support less expensive build activities and sessions more suitable for younger kids at the same time.

We also discussed how we can expand some of our educational interests with Make:KC.
