KCRS Robomagellan

Have you ever thought of geocaching with an autonomous robotic vehicle?

Robomagellan in Kansas City

This looks like fun, its like a robot capable of finding a geocache in a park. Try hacking into a 4 wheel drive RC car chassis then add an onboard processor, web camera, GPS antenna and various other sensors to create an autonomous vehicle capable of tackling outdoor terrain.

KCRS is making plans to hold a Robomagellan challenge in Kansas City next year. Wikipedia has an article describing Robomagellan as originated by the Seattle Robotics Society.

If you would like to learn more about how to build your own robot be sure to attend. The Kansas City Robotics Society meets in the Town Hall Meeting room located outside Science City in Kansas City's Union Station. The meeting is Saturday September 4, from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. The KCRS web site is www.KansasCityRobotics.org.
