Make: KC - Second Annual Mini Maker FaireCall for Makers, Volunteers, and Sponsors
As Make Magazine's web site announced this week, we are accepting applications for the RiverFest 2011 Mini Maker Faire that is part of the 43rd. annual Parkville Days celebration. There will be artists, crafters, live music, food vendors, beer garden, and more along with our Maker Village. Parkville Days typically attracts fifteen to twenty thousand people over a weekend. We're looking for Makers to come out and exhibit their creations, provide engaging activities, and build projects along with the crowd. Make: KC is creating a workshop area we can share with you while we're building "As Seen In Make Magazine" projects and other creations visitors can assemble while here. We hope you'll come out and share in the fun, but we need to know as soon as possible if you wish to exhibit. Please fill out the Application for Exhibitors and review other information at the RiverFest 2011 Mini Maker Faire - Aug 19-21 web page. Volunteers are important in making this a success too, if you want to help this way please fill out the Application for Volunteers. We still need sponsors to cover expenses and help make this event a success. If anyone can help as a sponsor too please let us know at minifaire@makekc.org. When Dale Dougherty was in Kansas City earlier this year he said that corporate money doesn't get you a Maker Faire but corporate sponsorship is needed to help put one on. He also said that we can grow our Maker Faires into as big of an event as we want. Please help us create a stronger Maker Community so we can grow an even bigger and better Maker Faire at Union Station next year. Flooding in the park caused us to move to higher ground this year. We're still in the downtown Parkville area but in the English Landing Center instead. The parking lots will be closed off to traffic so we'll have a great location for people to shop, browse and mingle. We hope you'll be a part of this celebration of Makers.
Event Sponsors Make:KC is proud of our sponsors who help make this happen.
