Adventures with Thomas Hart Benton

A few weeks ago Randall Jessee mentioned he was meeting with curators at the Thomas Hart Benton Home to talk about his experiences with the artist. We are excited that Randy is offering to share those experiences with us too.

I haven't always been a Rocketeer. In my youth (high school years) I was a little geeky and had many interests in Science, Theater, and also was an artist's model. Fortunately I only lived one street over from a Great American Artist, Thomas Hart Benton; so I could run over to his studio whenever the light was "just right". On more than one occasion Tom would call and I would head on over to see what he needed. Sometimes it was just to get the shadows of light and dark on a monks robe for a Mural he was doing of the early explorers but my "Big Job" was posing for the arms & legs of Indians and Pioneers for the Mural at the Truman Library in Independence. I hope you can come to our "Show & Tell" at the H.M.S.Beagle where I'll talk about my "Adventures with Tom Benton".
