The Value of Sports in High School?

Is this an indication of the value of sports in high school or just fun with statistics?

Not one of the school districts in the Greater Kansas City area spending $1 Million or more on their sports complex placed among the top 200 high schools ranked in the United States as Best High Schools for Math and Science.

Actually, of all the high schools in Missouri and Kansas there was only one receiving this distinction, at #85, Clayton High School - Clayton, MO

Another fun fact. According to an interesting article in The Atlantic:

“Approximately 1 percent of NCAA men’s basketball players and 2 percent of NCAA football players are drafted by NBA or NFL teams,” stated the 2001 report, basing its figures on a review of the previous 10 years, “and just being drafted is no assurance of a successful professional career.”

Are school administrators preparing students for a history of sports or STEM based skills they'll need in the future?

STEM should be more than just a Buzz Word.
