We are now accepting entries for exhibits and demonstrations for the Kansas City Mini Maker Faire set for Sunday August 22, 2010 from 10 AM – 6 PM, at the Parkville Days Riverfest in Parkville, MO. We anticipate many Makers and attendees to participate so we’re looking forward to reviewing your application. Fill out this application to be considered: Call For Makers Application
Deadline for entries: We are currently accepting applications until August 18, 2010. Please enter and submit an application as early as you can so we can hold a space for you. Notification of acceptance will be on a rolling basis.
What we are looking for
Visitors want to learn something, so just as important as your exhibit will be your presence, explaining how you did what you did. We are not looking for arts and crafts that people could see in other venues. But an oil painting by a robot painter, for example, will catch our eye. Basically, the main purpose of your exhibit should not be sales.
How to Apply Tell us about your activity or exhibit by submitting an application. We'll ask for a description that we can publish, a representative photo we can publish, and contact information for the public to use (websites, email). If you have any questions about exhibiting at the Kansas City Mini Maker Faire, please contact us by Email at MiniFaire@MakeKC.org. Other ways to participateSponsors: If you would like to sponsor part of the mini maker faire please contact us. Volunteers: We really appreciate volunteers! If you are interested in helping out, please Let us know! Exhibitor Info for Kansas City Mini-Maker Faire 2010 Potential exhibitors should FIRST apply by submitting an application found here (www.makekc.org). Apply as soon as possible since space and time are limited.
Mission The mission of the 2010 Kansas City Mini Maker Faire is to present interesting or unique exhibits, individuals, and demonstrations in DIY science, technology, engineering and art that excite, motivate and educate! The emphasis should be on cool things, skills, and knowledge! The kind of thing you’d see in MAKE Magazine. While folks are coming to the faire to see Cool things, they also want to meet and speak with the MAKERS. They want to know how you made it , where you got the parts , how you thought of it. Sales The main purpose of the demonstrations and exhibits should not be sales-related. Tasteful advertisements for your exhibit-related business are allowed. If you plan to sell at your exhibit, please fill out a vendor application with the Main Street Parkville Association (http://www.parkvillemo.org/vendor.htm)
Venue The Faire is in conjunction with the 42nd Annual Parkville Days Riverfest 2010 hosted by the Main Street Parkville Association in ENGLISH LANDING PARK, by the river in Parkville MO. We will be in the East and West Shelter houses near the entrance to the park. A large tent will also be used if needed. Each of these shelter houses are about 1000 sq ft with 8 tables in each and 7 duplex electric outlets. The tables are picnic table style heavy duty 29inches by 8feet on top. Restrooms are close by.
Safety Third
We enjoy fascinating projects and spectacular failures, but we will be among people who may not share our appreciation. Safety will be a primary concern at the Mini Maker Faire and want each exhibit to operate safely and protect everyone from any harm. Please contact the organizers if there is anything even remotely hazardous about your exhibit.
Family Friendly The Faire is intended to be family-friendly and safe. Please keep in mind all ages of visitors when designing your exhibit and conducting demonstrations.
Schedule
Costs and Finances There is no exhibitor fee. The Faire is being funded by donations from sponsors and the organizers. However, you may feel free to make a donation if you like.
